I was going to write something positive here, but I just looked down to see chocolate all over my white t-shirt, so clearly things are still a work in progress. I had once said I’d come in here every now and then on Wednesdays and post about dogs to cheer everybody up, but Johnny is also depressed because it’s been raining for a week. Usually we go out and he’s gung ho for twenty to thirty minutes until I drag him back inside, but when it’s raining, we go out, he heads for the nearest grass and pees, and then he heads back inside, dragging me behind him. He is not one of those animals who revels in the rain. For one thing, it makes his fur spiky.
So here’s how Johnny feels today (sunshine for the rest of the week, he’ll be fine):

Such a sweet boy!
Your dog is adorable!
We are in the middle of a heatwave in the UK. I am not a fan of that kind of heat, that’s why I live in the UK, not France. I feel betrayed.
Same on the continent.
Going from jacket weather to bikini weather in a heart beat it seems. Nice if the thermostat in my office says 28 degree celsius…
At least kiddo (pupil) and hubby (= teacher) are on school holidays instead of sweating at school.
Yes, it’s been crazy – luckily starting to cool down. A friend insisted we go to a garden centre yesterday, and I’m still cross with myself for going along with it. Waste of petrol – it was too hot for shopping. Apart from that stupidity, I’ve been gardening or walking first thing, then retreating to my cool house (no aircon, just keeping the curtains drawn on the south side). I’m slowly planting up gaps in the garden; next I need to swap the spring bulbs in my pots for summer plants.
Johnny’s in good company. My dog, Poppy, will not even leave the porch when it’s raining. Our spring has been cool, punctuated by a few rainy days and a few hot days. Temps are not consistently above 10c at night which has delayed planting. I did put my Brussel sprouts in today – they don’t mind cool temps. .
Johnny’s face says, “Stupid weather.”
But blink and it’ll change.
We’ve had high 80’s and sunny, cold and rainy, and now humid but in the 70’s in the past 7-10 days. Pixie doesn’t mind a light drizzle.
I’m still spending a lot of time in bed with my feet elevated above my heart, rain or shine. The swelling in my left lower leg hasn’t gone down completely, despite this being week 11.5 since the accident. My right knee is still weak and painful and gives out on me at random intervals. The scars are healing a bit and the tattoo gods smiled on me because neither of the big scars damaged any ink.
I can walk around the house without my cane but I take it with me everywhere else. I’m stupidly busy with appointments, to the point where I’m pretty much exhausted. I’m doing physio twice a week and therapy once a week and putting easily 550 km a week on my car. I’m good with the highway driving but my confidence for driving in towns is pretty low. Close traffic and parking lots are still really triggering for me. Basically, any time a vehicle is near me or approaching I’m on super high alert and my anxiety spikes through the roof. I’d really like to make it socially unacceptable for people to just randomly gun the motors of their trucks, too, for the sake of my nerves.
Our insurance did wind up writing off the truck and the less said about the other driver’s insurance the better. They are paying for my physio without complaining though.
I’ve been reading and catching up on some shows, but my tolerance for some things is pretty low when it comes to tv. I’m currently using Bluey to reset my brain.
I don’t have to go anywhere tomorrow, thank goodness, and I’m going to have a nap, maybe two.
Wow this sounds so hard . Sending many pocket hugs .
Virginia is suffering the same weather.
I am suffering the same old Home Moanership problems. The sump in the Owner’s Suite overflowed before I caught it. I ran the portable submersible pump and drained the sump.
*mutter*mutter*mutter*mutter*
Ha, it’s raining in Tasmania, too. But that’s a good thing, because it hasn’t rained here for ages and we desperately needed it. Still, I’m feeling a bit like Johnny, and this morning, when I went for my usual walk on the beach, I turned back halfway because it was too wet.
I did not, however, pee on the grass.
If you’ve got chocolate on your shirt that means potentially you got some chocolate into you. That’s a silver lining to your rainy cloud.
Oh, most of it went into me. I just didn’t realize I was that sloppy. I should have. Chocolate and heat don’t mix.
