Our own Deb Blake just reissued her Veiled Series:
“Just tell everyone I got the rights back to the series and have reissued it for those who missed it the first time around. It’s urban fantasy. Veiled Magic is the first book, then Veiled Menace, Veiled Enchantments. It’s available in ebook everywhere and print on Amazon.”
And Veiled Magic is now on sale for $2.99!
Since Witches came out of the broom-closet in the early 21st century, they have worked alongside humans as police officers, healers, stock traders, and more. But they aren’t the only paranormal entities in our world…
Police officer and Witch Donata Santori spends her days interrogating dead witnesses by summoning their spectral forms. Normally the job is little more than taking statements and filing reports.
But when she’s called in on the case of a murdered art restorer, she finds herself suddenly in possession of a mystical portrait that both the human and paranormal communities would kill to get their hands on. Unable to take on the forces hunting her alone, Donata seeks help from two unlikely and attractive allies: a reluctant shape-changer and a half-dragon art forger. But as the three of them hurry to uncover the truth about the powerful painting, Donata realizes that she’s caught in the middle of not one but two wars—one for possession of the painting’s secrets and one for possession of her heart…

Thank you, Jenny! These books have a particularly special place in my heart, because Veiled Magic was the book that got me my agent, Elaine Spencer, even though Berkley didn’t end up publishing it until after they put out the first couple of Baba Yaga books.
They were only ever out in eBook form, so a lot of people missed them the first time around. I’m really happy to have them back out in the world, and available in print too.
Congratulations, Deb! Love the sound of this series!
Congratulations, Deb. I love the covers.
I liked the original ones Berkley did, but I think my cover artist did a fabulous job with the new ones!
Congratulations, Deborah. The series sounds like a very fun read.
Congratulations, Deb! That looks like a fascinating series.
Also belated congrats to Brenda Margriet. I somehow missed that.
Hahahaha! No worries Jan!
Congrats! How exciting to get the rights to your books back!
This sounds like my cup of tea; bought it! Thanks, and congrats!
Enjoy!!!
And so the TBR List grows…
Sorry, not sorry.
If it is any consolation, I just bought a grow tower…
Bought!
Thank you!
I bought it too!
Yay!
Oh fun! Congrats on getting the rights back and the re-issue, Deb:)
Curious: Did they all go up at once or did you stagger their releases?
(This is more a writerly indie question re backlists, strategy, and algorithms.)
KatyL, I’d actually intended to put them out one a month, with the first chapter of book 2 at the end of book 1, and the first chapter of book 3 at the end of book 2. Then I did an extremely informal poll of my newsletter folks, and asked if they’d want them all at once, and 3 out of 4 did. Plus, frankly, a bunch of different circumstances meant that they came out months later than I’d intended, and I just said the heck with it, and released them all at once.
The idea (hope, really) was that people would read the first one and immediately want to read the second, and if it was available they’d buy it right away and not forget. No idea if this was the best way to do things or not, but that’s how I got there.
That sounds like a good strategy. I like knowing that, if I like a book, that there is another one or two to read right away, while I still remember the characters and background.
I bought all three. I hate waiting for the next book in a series. I’m impatient that way.
Me too. Plus I forget what happened in the last book…
Got it. Thanks for the info, Deb. There’s always so much to think about in the process. Putting out books is a lot of work!
It really is. I have massive respect for anyone who does self-publishing all the time.
Deb –
I loved the Baba Yaga series.
Missed these the first time around. Bought the first one and I’m sure I will go back for the other 2.
Yay! I hope you like them. BTW, I also got back the rights to my first three Baba Yaga novellas, so I’m working on rereleasing them as an omnibus. They will also be available in a print version for the first time.
So many good things happening! And no bears, lol.
About to buy my copy of the first one. Looks great!
Congratulations, Deb. These sound amazing. Not usually into paranormal romance but I’ve bought book 1 and I’m ready to be converted.
I’ll keep my fingers crossed.
Congratulations! Bought it and can’t wait to start reading. It’s grey and rainy here, so the perfect day to burrow into a blanket and read the day away.
Huzzah!
I’m always looking for good paranormals. Bought it and I’ll get the others once I finish reading.
Congratulations and thanks for letting us know!
Thank you!
I’m one of those who missed these first time around. Won’t miss the second chance.
