  1. Ha. I don’t think that day happens to me now that I’m an adult.

I also bought a new shelf unit. The will be no rest for the decluttered.

  2. Unusually, I’ve not only washed up today (I’d completely run out of plates, and was hungry), but also washed a load of sheets. Am probably not going to vacuum, though. Don’t want to become unrecognizable.

  3. Seeing as it’s an international holiday I’m going to wander back to books for a minute so please bare with me. Yesterday I finished Danielle Steel’s latest, Accidental Heroes which I thought was pretty good not great but not overly descripted. Then as I’ve been doing in between library books I brought up an SEP book Ain’t She Sweet. Well wouldn’t you know that with Good Book Thursday a bunch of you guys wrote about Georgette Heyer novels. So I was pleasantly surprised to note SEP started every chapter with a line from one of Heyer’s novels. Not only that but I got to a chapter in the book where the main character, Sugar Beth, goes to the book store for her not so pleasant employer to pick up research books that he ordered and just because puts in a bunch of Heyer’s novels for herself. Just thought you would like to know. Karma?!

      1. That was awesome! At first I thought you were doing a version of Abbott and Costello’s ‘Who’s on First’, then when you got to the mascara and makeup all I could think about was yesterday’s press conference with Sarah Sander’s trying to get the caterpillar off her eye. You do make me laugh so much I had to run and get a Kleenex the tears were running down my face.

      2. Uh oh. I just realized I have years of Arghink that I can read. I may never be productive again.

      3. I got to meet Jayne Ann Krenz at last year’s RWA and her hair was spectacular. (Although then she told a bunch of us at a party how much she spent keeping it that way and I went, “Nah.”)

And I accidentally Stalked SEP around the entire thing–I swear, we kept running into each other, but unlike when I stalk you, it was completely inadvertent–and she looked totally put together every time I saw her.

        Sigh.

      4. You both – outstandingly (see what I did there) – like, admire and use communities, both individuals coming together and chorus. I like, admire and read your books.

  4. I vacuumed while sitting in the recliner yesterday ( that chair is my small rehab center.). Ha ha. Just pushed the vacuum in several directions to grab all the cookie and cracker crumbs. Those suckers travel far.

    1. I would visit my mother-in-law and she would be sitting in a chair with her vacuum resting until she went on to another chair that was strategically placed around the living/dining room of her house. But if we were out walking and she saw a penny on the sidewalk she would practically knocked me over to get to it. I’d forgotten that memory. Take all the time in the world to recuperate.

    2. You need a Roomba. You never have to vacuum again. It’ll even get under your couch for you…. 😁

  5. Hmm, that sounds so tempting, but I find that unless I basically housework all weekend the whole house is an utter disaster by Wednesday (toddler, and husband and I are not tidy by nature ourselves). If I clean and tidy haphazardly all weekend we can usually make it to Friday before returning to disaster… 😂

But maybe today I’ll focus on grading, prep for next week’s classes, and reading my damn book club book instead… After all, it IS a holiday….

  6. Ignored chaos in my bedroom (if I have the holy grail no one will ever find it)

and made my Mum the irish brown bread that someone on the blog linked a recipe to a few weeks ago.

Thank you, it turned out very nice, my Mum is on a health thing right now, while I am trying to get the hang of baking.

  7. I’ve been making VERY SLOW progress at quelling the clutter we’ve acquired over the years of inertia so every day is housecleaning day in some way or another, but I do LOVE the sentiment!

  8. SIL is coming to stay overnight. So. Cooking and housecleaning no matter what the holiday is.

  9. I looked at our living room windowsills yesterday and realized they were moldy. Yuck!! So today I’m washing curtains and windowsills. It’s late autumn here and probably the last warm day for months.

I’d much rather celebrate no-housework day. Curtains are such a pain to get down.

  10. Ooh, I’d love to celebrate “No Housework Day”, but I’m busily procrastinating about finishing the taxes, so, housework it is. On the plus side, clean sheets to sleep on tonight.

    1. 🙂 My house is at it’s cleanest when I have something I have to do, but don’t want to.

Good to know I’m not alone on that one!

  11. Situational asthma here, dust. Clouds of dust. All the dust. So we hire in the cleaning. No dust-capturing carpets and drapes, but wood floors. Sweeping, dust. Clouds of dust. All the dust.

    My story, sticking with it.

And of course plenty of cleaning I do myself. Where’s that match?
